I am not Erwan Heussaff. My relationships are not determined by anyone’s political affiliation. However, I do tend to distance myself from people who respond to my posts with unnecessary rudeness. You are always welcome to challenge my views and disagree with me, but if the conversation descends into cheap insults or dismissive remarks, I would rather you leave my page.

The reason I mentioned Erwan is that my own parents were DDS. They would never openly describe themselves as die-hard supporters, but they also never criticized the former president. Even when he made some of the most shocking and offensive statements, they remained silent. Even when confronted with the many deaths linked to his administration’s policies, they rarely had much to say.

My youngest sister and I would often tease them and try to draw them into political discussions. We would push for explanations, hoping for a real debate, but they never really had strong arguments to offer. Most of the time, all we got was, “Ah, basta!” and honestly, I cannot entirely blame them as I know of many intelligent, decent, and respectable people who succumbed to this pandemic.

But when BBM happened, “parang naiba ang ihip ng hangin!”

Ah, I realized, they were silent loyalists! Because suddenly, may problema na sila. My mom would quote the statement made by the former president na, “mauuna na ako sa impyerno!” May issue na sya dun, dati wala naman sya masyadong sinasabi.

Natatawa nalang ako.

Then my father had this FB post about the government being like a circus, blah blah blah and that we cannot trust it anymore considering the recent happenings in the senate.

Again, natawa ako kasi andaming kakampinks liking his post. But in my head, I was like, “hey, don’t get baited, he is not a kakampink!”

I had to post something in the comment thread to clarify because I don’t like how his kakampink friends got confused by the post thinking that he is now an ally.

While we’ve always joked about their evolving opinions, we love them of course.

Kakampinks are being used as fillers between the BBM SARA feud. Let us not allow it.
