Okay, confession: I was never really a Reddit person. My relationship with the app was purely transactional, I’d show up only to dig through ancient threads, usually because I binged a show years late and needed someone, anyone, to confirm it existed, like “The Society.” Watched it late and immediately needed to know if there was ever going to be closure, or if we were all just going to live with that cliffhanger forever.

Same with Reunion (2005), the one with Will Estes, Dave Annable, Chyler Leigh, Alexa Davalos, Sean Faris, and Amanda Righetti. A whole cast like that and the network just… canceled it before it even finished a season? I refuse to believe I’m the only one still bitter about this. Somebody out there has to be nursing this long-term grudge, and Reddit was the only place I could find them.

But yesterday, Reddit went from “occasional archive-diving tool” to “genuinely came through for me in my time of need.”

Here’s what happened: I spent an entire day mentally spiraling because I could NOT remember the name of a drama I watched a year ago (or 2?). All I had was vibes. A woman working at a coffee bean factory. A guy who’s a teacher. They ride the train together every day and slowly become close. At some point she finds a mystery old machine, can’t remember if it roasts or brews the coffee. Oh, and the train breaks down once and they end up serving coffee to the stranded passengers. That’s it. That’s all I had.

I couldn’t even tell you if it was a J-drama or K-drama, I’m a fan of both, so honestly either was fair game. All I knew is it had to be something fairly recent. Which is extra sus, because I barely watch these anymore since my eyesight gave up on subtitle-binging, so there wasn’t exactly a huge pool to pick from. How come I can’t remember them!

I asked my friends and family like it was a missing persons case. Everyone had theories. Everyone was wrong. Facebook friends didn’t give any helpful information as well.

Then I posted the same vague, coffee-and-trains description on Reddit, half-expecting nothing, and within what felt like no time, a total stranger swooped in and said: “You’re probably thinking of Beyond Goodbye.”

And immediately, my brain went “OH, THE ONE THAT HAD TOMA IN IT! AN ACTOR FROM MY TIME.” I double-checked and yes, Beyond Goodbye, confirmed.

Of every app, forum, group chat, and desperate Google search I went through trying to solve this mystery, Reddit was the one that actually delivered. I finally slept that night knowing I could, at long last, stop not-remembering something.
